Trust and ObeyThis is a featured page

1886 was a great year for the art of worship. The words to “How Great though Art” were written along with the song, “Trust and Obey”

Some hymns and worship songs remind us of who God is; that He is great. Other Hymns inspire us to stay true to our great God. They remind us that God can be trusted.

The inspiration for the song came during a D.L. Moody speaking engagement. Towner was leading singing for D. L. Moody in Brockton, Massachusetts. Rev. Towner heard a young man say, “I am not quite sure – but I am going to trust, and I am going to obey.”

This hymn penned by D. B. Towner is an example of how the lives of believers can inspire great art.

The hymn reminds us that we live in a broken, messed up world we came faith our lives into rightness. We can do what God says and our life, no matter how ridiculous the circumstances will be made good.

Not a burden we bear,

Not a sorrow we share,

But our toil he doth richly repay;

Not a grief nor a loss,

Not a frown nor a cross,

But is blest if we trust and obey.

So bring on difficulty, grief, broken pieces, and crosses. God’s there. He’s always been there. And He always will be there. All we have to do is to keep our eye on the ball, spiritually. STAY TRUE!
