1: There is nothing made of wood that could equal the horrible beauty of the cross

2: No artist could render through hours of continual labor,

3: the eternal work

1: the saving act

3: grace painted in blood of the canvass of the cross

2: no skill,

1: no lightness of heart can attain anything of great esteem

3: no heavenly worth

2: outside the cross.

3: Our complete story, the effort of our lives is a wanton catastrophe outside the cross.

1: Any peace brokered,

2: any accomplishment,

3: any moment of high exhalation dwarfs under the shadow of the cross.

1: There is no sense

2: There is no substance to life

3: O the terror and grace of this sacrificial statement spoken many seas and centuries from here and now!

2: It annuls all effort.

1: Every muscle,

3: every drop,

1: every holy strand of suffering is greater that any Caesar, saint or sacred plea.

2: The cross of Christ towers above every sign and anomaly of retribution.

3: The shame and sweet release of the divine pronunciation is an ever-increasing ecstasy as souls fall toward the hope of Heaven's Prince and Coming King.
